Your product catalog is the foundation of every menu. This guide covers how to add products efficiently and keep your catalog organized.
Overview
Products in Trikome represent items you sell — flower, edibles, concentrates, topicals, and more. Each product can have:
- Name and description
- Strain information (optional, with auto-fill from our database)
- Product type (flower, edible, concentrate, etc.)
- Multiple prices for different sizes or quantities
- Product image (optional)
Products exist in your catalog independently from collections and menus. A single product can appear in multiple collections and on multiple menus.
Adding Your First Product
- Navigate to Products in your store dashboard
- Click Add Product
- Fill in the required fields:
- Name: The display name customers will see
- Type: Select from flower, edible, concentrate, pre-roll, topical, etc.
- Add at least one price
- Click Save
Using the Strain Database
When adding flower or other strain-based products, you can pull data from our strain database:
- Start typing the strain name in the Strain field
- Select from the suggestions that appear
- THC/CBD percentages and lineage will auto-populate (if available)
Using strain data adds credibility to your menu and helps customers make informed decisions. However, you can always override auto-filled values if your specific batch differs.
When Strains Aren't Found
If a strain isn't in our database:
- Type the full strain name and press Enter
- Fill in THC/CBD manually based on your lab results
- Your custom strain will be saved for future use
Setting Up Multiple Prices
Most products have multiple sizes or quantities. Trikome handles this with a flexible pricing system.
How Price Entries Work
Each price entry has:
- Label: What the customer sees (e.g., "1g", "1/8 oz", "3-pack")
- Price: The dollar amount
Adding Multiple Prices
- In the product form, find the Prices section
- Click Add Price
- Enter the label and price
- Repeat for each size/quantity variant
Example for flower:
| Label | Price |
|---|---|
| 1g | $15 |
| 1/8 oz | $45 |
| 1/4 oz | $80 |
| 1/2 oz | $150 |
Keep label names consistent across products. If one product uses "1/8 oz" and another uses "⅛", they'll appear differently on menus.
Product Images
Product images are optional but recommended for a polished look.
Image Guidelines
- Resolution: At least 800×800 pixels
- Format: JPG, PNG, or WebP
- Style: Well-lit, centered product shots work best
- Background: Clean backgrounds (white or neutral) photograph best
Uploading an Image
- In the product form, click the image upload area
- Select your file
- The image will be processed and displayed
Organizing Your Catalog
Use Consistent Naming
Standardize product names across your catalog:
- Good: "Blue Dream — Hybrid" or "Blue Dream (Hybrid)"
- Avoid: Inconsistent formatting like "blue dream", "BLUE DREAM", "Blue dream hybrid"
Keep Descriptions Useful
Focus on information that helps customers:
- Effects and experience
- Flavor/aroma notes
- Best use cases
- Anything unique about the product
Skip generic marketing language that doesn't add value.
Product Types
Assign accurate product types to enable filtering and sorting:
| Type | Use For |
|---|---|
| Flower | Loose cannabis flower |
| Pre-Roll | Joints, blunts, infused pre-rolls |
| Concentrate | Wax, shatter, rosin, live resin |
| Edible | Gummies, chocolates, beverages |
| Topical | Lotions, balms, patches |
| Tincture | Oils, drops, sprays |
| Vape | Cartridges, disposable pens |
Editing and Removing Products
Editing a Product
- Go to Products
- Click on the product you want to edit
- Make your changes
- Click Save
Changes sync to all collections and menus that include this product.
Removing a Product
- Go to Products
- Click on the product
- Click Delete Product
- Confirm the deletion
Deleting a product removes it from all collections. Make sure it's not actively displayed on any menus before deleting.
Tips for Efficient Catalog Management
- Add products in batches — Set aside time to add multiple products rather than one at a time
- Use copy/duplicate — If available, duplicate similar products and edit the differences
- Keep pricing updated — Outdated prices create customer confusion
- Archive instead of delete — Consider marking products as inactive rather than deleting if you might restock
Troubleshooting
Products not appearing in collections
Make sure the product is:
- Saved (not just in draft mode)
- Added to the specific collection you're checking
Price not displaying correctly
Check that:
- The price label isn't too long (keep under 15 characters)
- The price has a valid dollar amount
